Microwaveable crochet bowl cozies had their moment in 2018 and I thought they were a brilliant idea. After searching for the perfect free pattern for a bowl cover that would fit my Corelle dinnerware I finally decided to just design my own. This free pattern is easy enough for a beginner and works up quickly so that you’ll have the perfect bowl cozy in just 12 rounds.
Microwaveable Bowl Cozies Pattern
I don’t know if it’s a southern thing or what but everybody and their Grandma has Correlle dishes where I come from. They’re light, durable, and come in heaps of patterns. Plus, the dinnerware sets come in standard dimensions so my bowls are the same size as Aunt Susie’s.
When I first saw crochet bowl covers trending I loved the idea. We microwave things all the time and are constantly dealing with the dreaded “hot bowl” syndrome. Oatmeal, grits, and spaghettios are a regular occurrence around here.
So I hopped on Pinterest to find a free pattern for bowl cozies but became frustrated when multiple crochet patterns didn’t begin to fit my Corelle bowls. Enter me.
These work up so quickly and not only make a great addition to your kitchen but I think would sell well at local markets and craft fairs. Keep scrolling for the free pattern and video tutorial or purchase the ad-free PDF in my shop or with the button below.

R5: HDC in first 3 sts, 2 HDC in next st. Repeat pattern around. (50 sts)
R6: HDC in each st around. (50 sts)
R7: HDC in first 9 sts, 2 HDC in next stitch. Repeat pattern around. (55 sts)
